Services offered
CONSULTATIONS
Consultations may include: 1. a phone discussion to learn more about your child’s developmental needs with recommendations for occupational therapy services, other services, and/or home adaptations, 2. an observation of your child in his or her school to provide school-based recommendations to support optimal learning, and/or 3. an observation of your child in the home to set up the home environment to optimize learning and function. 1:1 DIRECT THERAPY SESSIONS
Working together with your child 1:1 to develop and strengthen areas of need that were previously determined through the comprehensive evaluation, thereby enabling the child to achieve greater independence in his or her meaningful occupations. Additionally, parent/guardian education, strategies and activities to incorporate into the home routine, as well as environmental adaptations can be provided. |
COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATIONS
An in-depth verbal and/or written analysis of your child’s sensory processing skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, executive functioning skills, social skills, visual-perceptual skills, self-care skills, emotional regulation skills, and praxis skills through standardized assessments, clinical observations, parent/caregiver report, and other providers (ex. Teachers, psychologist). GROUP-BASED THERAPY SESSIONS
Group sessions of between 2-4 children at comparable developmental stages. These sessions include facilitated play by OT, and are especially pertinent for children who struggle to effectively communicate their needs to peers and adults as well as interact with their social environment and the world around them. Group-based sessions are not only fun, but also provide opportunities for children to enhance their skills through peer modeling. |
As an OT, I believe in a whole person and team approach to best support the child and his or her family’s needs, which involves educating the parents, caregivers, and any other professionals working with the child/family (ex: speech therapist, psychologist, teachers).
I have specialty training in Therapeutic Listening, NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment), and a Sensory Motor Approach to Feeding. In my therapy sessions, I incorporate a strength-based approach that is individualized, client-centered, and emphasizes being able to move one's body effectively. A task analysis is performed to support the client’s development in all areas: fine motor skills, gross motor skills, executive functioning skills, social skills, sensory processing skills, visual-perceptual skills, self-care skills, emotional regulation skills, and activities of daily living. Handwriting Without Tears, Social Thinking, and Zones of Regulation are just three examples of curriculum that I incorporate in my therapy sessions.
